CPAP Products
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure device (CPAP) is used in the treatment of patients who suffer from a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) . A CPAP machine stops obstructions from happening by delivering a stream of compressed air via a hose to the mask. This assists in opening the airway so that unobstructed breathing becomes possible, thus, preventing and/or reducing apneas or hypopneas. With a referral from the Physician, patients will go for an overnight study (polysomnography) supervised by a sleep technician in a sleep laboratory. The necessary pressure that is measured in centimeter of water (cm H20) is determined by a sleep physician after review of the sleep study. OSA is a chronic health issue and if not treated can contribute negatively to other pre-existing conditions such as hypertension, GERD, diabetes, and CHF. By becoming compliant on the CPAP therapy, the overall quality of life as a patient will improve.
